टंग यानि जीभ और ट्विस्टर यानी मरोड़ने वाला। अगर दोनों को मिला दें तो टंग ट्विस्टर कुछ ऐसी चीज हुई जो आपकी जीभ को मरोड़ दे।और इस काम को अंजाम देते हैं हमारी भाषा में प्रयोग होने वाले शब्द। जब शब्दों का जाल कुछ ऐसा बुना जाता है कि कोई उसे आसानी से ना बोल पाए तब एक टंग ट्विस्टर का जन्म होता है।आम तौर पे इनका प्रयोग हंसी-मजाक और हल्के-फुल्के पलों के लिए किया जाता है। तो आइये कुछ प्रसिद्ध टंग ट्विस्टर को बोलने का प्रयास करें।

लल्लन लाया था लालू की शादी पे,

लाल लाल लिफाफे में लड्डू।

(31) काला कबुतर, सफेद तरबुज,

काला तरबुज ,सफेद कबुतर। 

(32) नीली रेल, लाल रेल। 

(33) तेंदुलकर  प्रभाकर  गावस्कर वेंगसरकर,

वेंगसरकर गावस्कर प्रभाकर तेंदुलकर।
