“ वैलेंटाइन किसी दिन का नाम नहीं है, यह नाम है एक पादरी (Priest) का, जो कि रोम में रहता था, उस वक्त रोम पर Claudius का शासन था, जिसकी इच्छा थी, कि वह एक शक्तिशाली शासक बने, जिसके लिए उसे एक बहुत बड़ी सेना बनानी थी, लेकिन उसने देखा कि रोम के वो लोग जिनका परिवार है, जिनके बीवी और बच्चे है, वो सेना में नहीं जाना चाहते, तब उस शासक ने एक नियम बनाया, जिसके अनुसार उसने भविष्य में होने वाली सभी शादी पर प्रतिबन्ध लगवा दिया. यह बात किसी को ठीक नहीं लगी, पर उस शासक के सामने कोई कुछ नहीं कह पाया. यह बात पादरी वैलेंटाइन को भी ठीक नहीं लगी. एक दिन एक जोड़ा आया, जिसने शादी करने की इच्छा ज़ाहिर की, तब पादरी वैलेंटाइन ने उनकी शादी चुपचाप एक कमरे में करवाई. लेकिन उस शासक को पता चल गया और उसने पादरी वैलेंटाइन को कैद कर लिया और उसे मौत की सजा सुनाई गई |

जब पादरी वैलेंटाइन जेल में बंद था, तब सभी लोग उससे मिलने आते थे, उसे गुलाब और गिफ्ट देते थे, वह सभी बताना चाहते थे, कि वह सभी प्यार में विश्वास करते है, पर जिस दिन उनको मौत की सजा दी, वह दिन 14 फरवरी 269 A.D. था, मरने से पहले पादरी वैलेंटाइन ने एक खत लिखा, जो कि प्यार करने वालो के नाम था. वैलेंटाइन प्यार करने वालों के लिए ख़ुशी ख़ुशी कुर्बान हुआ है और प्यार को जिन्दा रखने की गुहार करता है, इसलिए उस दिन से आज तक 14 फरवरी को वैलेंटाइन की याद में वैलेंटाइन डे के नाम से मनाये किया जाता है.”

February 269 AD Before he died, Pastor Valentine wrote a letter, which was in the name of those who loved him. Valentines is happily sacrificed for those who love and pleads to keep the love alive, so from that day till today 14th February is celebrated in the name of Valentine's Day in memory of Valentines.

Like Valentine's Day is a unique festival, in the same way it is celebrated in a unique way.
