दादी की पहेलियां, (grandma's riddles)

 आज  मैं अपनी यादों की पिटारी से कुछ पहेलियाँ ले कर आया हू, ये वो पहेलियाँ है ....जब आज भी मैं याद करता हूँ तो....ऐसा लगता है जैसे....हम बच्चे दादी के पास बैठे..... मैं बताऊँ...मैं बताऊँ... का शोर मचा रहे हों .... और दादी कहती हो....' अरे भई....जरा दम तो लो .....पहले पहेली कहने तो दो' और पहेलियों के सवाल जवाब का सिलसिला आगे बढ़ता चला जाता है और उनके पास बैठे सभी बच्चे और बड़े इसका आनंद उठाते हैं, और सच में दादी की कहानियों के जैसे ही उनकी पहेलियां भी बहुत ही मजेदार होती थी ||

 

 (1) आग लगे फूले फले, सींचत जावे सूख, मैं तोहि पूछों ऐ सखी, फूल के भीतर रुख? 

 Fire flowers and fruits, irrigation goes dry, I ask you, my friend, the tree within the flower?

उत्तर- अनार (आतिशबाजी)

(2) आगे से वह गाँठ गठोला, पीछे से वह टेढ़ा, हाथ लगाए कहर खुदा का, बूझ पहेली मेरा ?

That knot tied in the front, it is crooked from the back, wreaked havoc with God's hand, my puzzle is understood?

उत्तर- बिच्छू

(3) आगे-आगे बहिना आई, पीछे-पीछे भइया, दाँत निकाले बाबा आए, बुरका ओढ़े मइया ?

 Sister came ahead, brother behind behind, father came to remove his teeth, mother wore a burqa?

उत्तर– भुट्टा

 
(4) आदि कटे से सबको पारे, मध्य कटे से सबको मारे, अन्त कटे से सबको मीठा, खुसरो वाको आँखिन दीठा |

The first bite killed everyone, the middle bite killed everyone, the end bite sweetened everyone, Khusro wako aakhin ditha.

(5) आये तो अंधियारी लाए, जाए तो सब सुख ले जाए, क्या जाने वो कैसी है, जैसी दीखे वैसी है | 

If it comes, it will bring darkness, if it goes, it will take away all the happiness, who knows how it is, it is what it looks like.

(6) ईचक दाना बीचक दाना, दाने ऊपर दाना, छज्जे ऊपर मोर नाचे, लड़का है दीवाना |

Ichk dana beechak dana, dana up dana, peacock dances on the balcony, the boy is crazy.

उत्तर – अनार

(7) उज्जवल बरन अधीन तन, एक चित्त दो ध्यान, देखत मैं तो साधु है, निरे कपट की खान |

 Ujjwal Baran submissive body, focus on one mind, see I am a saint, a mine of sheer hypocrisy.

(8) ऊपर से तो एक रंग है, भीतर चित्तीदार, उसके बिना रुचे नहिं पान, जो बूझे सो चतुर सुजान |

(9) एक कहानी मैं कही कहूँ, तू सुन ले मेरे पूत, बिना परों वह उड़ गया, बाँध गले में सूत !

(10) एक किले में चालिस चोर, फाटक खोला निकला चोर, सर मसल दिया मर गया चोर !

(11)  इधर खूँटा, उधर खूँटा, गाय मरखनी दूध मीठा |

A peg here, a peg there, Cow's markhani milk sweet.

12. एक किले में नौ दस परी, सब की सब मुंह बांधे खड़ीं |

 Nine ten fairies in a fort, all of them stood with closed mouths.

13. एक गुनी ने ये गुण कीन्हा हरियाला पिंजरे में दीन्हा, देखो जादूगर का हाल, डाले हरा निकाले लाल|

14. एक गुफा के दो रखवाले, दोनों लम्बे दोनों काले |

15. एक जगह पर ऐसो पानी, हाथी खड़ा नहाए, पीपल पेड़ फुनग तक भीगे, बैल पियासो जाए |

 Such water at one place, elephants bathe while standing, Peepal trees get drenched till the top, bulls go thirsty.

16. एक तमाशा हमने देखा मुर्दा आटा खाए, बोलो तो बोले नहीं मारो तो चिल्लाए |

We have seen a spectacle where a dead man eats flour.

 उत्तर – ढोल

17. एक तरुवर का फल है तर, पहले नारी पीछे नर, वा फल की यह देखो चाल, बाहर खाल औ भीतर बाल

The fruit of a tree is water, first the female followed by the male, or look at the movement of the fruit, skin outside and hair inside.

 

उत्तर - भुट्टा

18. एक तिरिया जो शोर मचाए, जिस पे थूके वो मर जाए, ऐसा उसका अजब चरित्तर, उसको मारें आंख सभी नर |

 A tiriya who makes noise, on whom he spits, he dies, such is his strange character, all men should kill him.

19. एक थाल मोतियों भरा, सबके सिर पर औंधा धरा, चारों ओर वह थाली फिरे, मोती उससे एक न गिरे | 

 A plate full of pearls, put it upside down on everyone's head, let that plate go around, not a single pearl should fall from it.

20. एक नार कुँए में रहे, वाका नीर खेत में बहे, जो कोई वाके नीर को चाखे, फिर जीवन की आस न राखे

A man stays in the well, while water flows in the field, whosoever tastes the water, then there is no hope of life.

21. एक नार चातुर कहलावे, मुरख को ना पास बुलावे, चतुर मरद जो हाथ लगावे, खोल सतर वह आप दिखावे। 

 A man should be called clever, do not invite a fool near, whoever touches a clever man, you should show him openly.
