Why do mosquitoes keep hovering over our heads?

Most of the mosquitoes that bite on the head are female mosquitoes.  The female mosquito is interested in the carbon dioxide and other substances (including sweat, odor, and heat) that we constantly exhale.

Mosquitoes have sensors on their antennae that detect these things and help them locate food sources.

If we have thick hair and some perfumed substance like oil or gel has been applied on it, then it also attracts them.

Mosquitoes love carbon dioxide, so whenever you release carbon dioxide.  So the mosquito flying overhead likes its smell very much.  Due to the attraction of this smell, mosquitoes keep hovering over our head.

Mosquitoes like the smell of sweat coming out of the human body very much.  You have often seen that a group of mosquitoes surround your head as soon as you come out after gym or workout.  Actually, there is hair in the head, in such a way the sweat there does not get dry quickly and mosquitoes take advantage of this.

Mosquitoes also like the smell of hair oil.  mosquitoes smell the oil

They start hovering around your head.

Mosquitoes and some other types of flies usually mate in inanimate places, such as a tree.  But sometimes they also use the head of a human or any other animal.

Mosquitoes are particularly fond of octanol (a chemical found in human sweat), so if we're sweating profusely, we're easy targets.
